Beginner Sewing Basics – This is a "one on one" class. Learn to sew. Class is 3- 3 hour sessions. Classes can be scheduled any free day from 1:30 to 4:30pm. Enroll Now and we will then pick the day you wish to come.
Learn to thread and use your machine for straight stitch. Practice the basic seam allowances. Materials will be provided for 2 skill builder projects. Make a quick and easy project with a commercial pattern. Learn to read the pattern and guide sheet. Layout the pattern and cut the fabric for your project. Complete your pattern project in class.
Purchase your pattern and fabric before your first class. Measure your hip circumference for pants and bust for a top size. Purchase a basic cotton broadcloth print (quilter's cotton) using the pattern requirements for yardage.(no velour, fleece, sheers, plaids or knits.) Pattern recommendations include McCalls 8057 and Butterick 6742 which include side pockets. You may have to order your pattern on line before class.

Bring all purpose polyester thread and required elastic ( non-roll elastic 3/4? wide or 1? wide depending on pattern choice). Pattern calls for about 2 3/4 yards of fabric for pants and 1 spool of all-purpose polyester thread (Hobby Lobby brand sewology). You will need these supplies for lesson one.
Another pattern choice which includes both teen and adult sizing is Simplicity S9127. Pattern is easier and does not include pockets.
A Sewing Machine can be provided on request. Basic sewing equipment can also be provided for class. Use the comments section of your order for questions.
